Chain Link Moray Eel

The chain-link Moray eel has a long slender body. It has white coloring with a slightly yellow tint. It has round, black or gray chain markings across it’s whole body. That is where they get the name Chain-link Moray eel. In an aquarium, this eel can grow to two and a half feet long. It is pretty easy to care for, it doesn't doesn’t need that big of a tank. You should only consider getting a chain-link eel if you have an aquarium over 125 gallons. It would be best though, if you had a tank that was a bit larger than that. The eels like to have extra space.

The chain-link eel likes to make shelter in holes between rocks and coral in an aquarium. It spends a lot of its time hiding during the day. It does most of its hunting at nighttime under the cover of darkness. If you put large rocks or large pieces of coral in the bottom of your aquarium, make sure they are fastened to the bottom of the tank. Like most other eels, they may knock over the rocks and hurt themselves. This is not what you want. The chain-link eels eating patterns differ slightly from other Moray eels. It likes to eat two or three live meals per week. It does not like to eat food that is already dead and bought from a grocery store. You should go and buy their food from quality pet store.

If it does not eat the food you give to it at first, you should impale a piece of food on a feeder stick and try to tempt your eel to eat it. Always use your feeder stick, and never use your fingers to jiggle the food in front of the Moray eel, as it may bite you. Chain-link eels are a great pet for the beginning eel enthusiast. It does not take a lot of work to maintain. It is very strong and will adapt to most new aquariums. They are pretty common and can be bought at almost any fish door that carry’s eels.
