Moray Eel Adaptations
Moray Eels, like many other species of animals, live in drastically different
environments. But an Eel that is adapted to environmental conditions like those
in Hawaii would have trouble surviving in the different conditions of the
Bahamas and vice versa. So what can eels do to adapt themselves to their
specific environment?
The main thing that changes is an eel’s color. The “décor” of an eel’s
environment is very important. It allows the eel to effectively hide and protect
itself from any predator that may try to harm it. If a bright yellow eel is
hiding near a brown rock, there is a good chance that one of its predators will
be able to see it and catch it. A bright yellow eel that is hiding near a bright
yellow piece of coral reef has a much better chance of evading predators.
Moray eels must also adapt to the water temperature that they will be residing
in. Not much is known about this, but scientists are actively researching this
subject. It is known though, that an ell will undergo some sort of biological
change related to the temperature of the water that will become their primary
residence. Moray eels are just like many other sea creatures. They must adapt to
their most common surroundings to survive and thrive.
Not much is known about the adaptation of Moray eels, or eels in general. We are
learning more and more everyday, though, about moray eels. In a few years, we
should know a lot more about this mysterious species!
