Moray Eel Enemy
In the oceans, there is no such thing as being on the top of the food chain.
Even sharks have predators. The Moray Eel is no different. It has many
predators, but the two main enemies of Moray eels are humans and octopus. The
main enemies of the Moray Eels are octopus. If you have an octopus and a moray
eel in the same tank or same area, sooner or later, one of them will be dead.
Chances are, it is going to be the octopus. Both the octopus and the Moray eels
like to live in the same environment. Their main homes are caves and areas
around coral reefs. If a moray eel smells an octopus near by, it will endlessly
search all the cracks and crevices until it finds its enemy. Once the moray
finds the octopus, it will sink its double jaw into the octopus’ fleshy skin.
The octopus will try and get free, but more than likely, it will be overwhelmed
by the moray eel’s slippery and muscular body. The moray eel will eventually eat
the whole octopus. The other enemy of moray eels is humans.
Humans do not usually eat them, but they do capture them for display in
aquariums and for sale in pet stores. Humans are not as big an enemy to Moray
eels as octopuses are. There is a slight chance that a moray eel will be eaten
by another larger, stronger sea creature, but since eels are very good at hiding
in small caves and cracks in rocks, it is relatively rare.
