Having a Moray Eel as a Pet
When picking out a pet to adopt, most people think of dogs, cats, gold fish, rabbits, hamsters, mice, parrots etc. I happened to walk in to a pet store and was surprised to find a moray eel put out for sale as a pet. The Moray eel was so appealing to me too. I am not a fan of fish but the beautiful colors of the moray eel captured my attention. It was about 2 ft long. It looked peaceful and friendly in its aquarium. From the owner of the pet store I learnt that the common moray eel is usually found in the Indo-Pacific. Moray eels: As the name suggest, the common moray eel belongs to the family of eels. This eel is beautiful with its different colors and rare designs. It is extremely easy to maintain save that it is a huge eel. It does not need any special requirements. The smallest eels grow to a size of 3 ft while the large ones can grow up to 10 ft long. The Moray eels give no trouble when it comes to eating; they are willing to eat anything you give them, they eat live as well as meaty foods. Most commonly these eels eat up other fish, so if you have an aquarium at home, it will do you good to place the moray eel in an aquarium that doesn’t already have other small fish. Even though Moray eels do not give trouble for eating, they may not eat at times, do not worry about it. They have the capacity of going without food for several weeks at a stretch. When it comes to large fish, they are very sociable. You need at least a 100 gallon aquarium to house a Moray eel. The moray eel usually makes the bottom of the aquarium as its home; it rarely comes up to the surface. More Information About Moray Eels
